HEART OF DELIVERANCE
By Dr. William Null
Definition: Webster's Third International
Dictionary Unabridged
Deliverance: The act of delivery or being delivered from. From the
French word, "delivrer" - To free.
Delivery: The act of freeing or being freed (as from restraint,
captivity or peril).
There are several words translated deliverance in the King James Bible. They refer to
captives being set free, healed, preserved and made whole. In the healing ministry of
Jesus, deliverance from evil spirits comprised approximately one-third of His ministry.
The deliverance from evil spirits was usually accompanied by healing from a physical or
mental illness or infirmity. The key word for miracles and deliverance in the ministry of
Jesus is compassion (Strong's # 4697), which means "to be moved in ones bowels"
(i.e. "to feel it in your gut"). Whenever you see the word 'compassion' in the
ministry of Jesus, it is always followed by healing miracles and deliverance from evil
spirits.
The person truly called into deliverance ministry has a deep heart of compassion for
people who are sick and oppressed. As Jesus was scorned and hated by the world, so will
you be scorned.
John 15:18 "If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated
you."
You will frequently be scorned as superstitious and ignorant or just delusional.
Nevertheless, you press on following Jesus' example to see God's people set free from
oppression of the devil.
Act 10:38 "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power,
who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was
with Him."
Note: He went about healing all, for God was with Him. Those who have a heart of
deliverance will press on following the Holy Spirit because they love the brethren
unconditionally.
I John 3:13-14a "Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. We know that we
have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren."
