Lake
Hamilton Bible Camp Needs Computers
NEW SYSTEMS:
When we bought our server in January, 2001,
it was nearly the latest technology. It's a P3 800MHz
running Windows 2000 Professional. We also have three
other workstations on this network much older then
our server. We have been making do, and have been
faithful with what we have to publish books, write
the magazine and take care of the database. If the
Lord lays it on your heart to send an offering to
purchase new computers, printers, small parts, or
software upgrades, please make your check out to
LHBC. Attention it for our "Computer
Project."
USED SYSTEMS
NEEDED: Have you purchased a newer computer
for your own use? If you are not using the old one
and would like to donate it, we would like to recycle
it for the Kingdom, and make it a blessing for the
needs of the campground, as well as a blessing to
someone else in need of a computer for Bible study
purposes. We believe, that because of Pentium 4
technology, the used computer market is flooded with
P2 and P3 systems which are sitting somewhere just
collecting dust. We have need for many stand-alone
workstations to be used solely for Bible Study.
An
additional need is the computer that is used
only during the services, to project the screen songs
we have created using Microsoft Power Point. This
computer is the only one available but quite slow in
searching, and trying to keep up with song changes
from our worship leaders. This computer is a 486-66
MHz using Windows 95.
In 1984, someone
donated a nearly new Epson FX-80, 9 pin tractor fed
dot matrix printer, when we first started buying
computers for our office. We still use this printer
every day for the printing of cassette labels. It's
now 20 years old, but it sure has been a blessing to
us. Sure, a new Epson is faster, but they still cost
hundreds of dollars. We can make do with something
you're no longer needing just as easy, and use the
camps funds for other pressing needs.
For stand-alone work
stations, the following are the minimum
requirements for computers we could use:
At Least a Pentium
II 300 MHz (computer still boots up working fine)
At Least Windows 95
At Least 64 meg of memory
At least 2 Gig Hard Drive
At least 2x or faster CD-ROM
At least a 14" VGA Monitor
Also keyboard and mouse
Optional: printer and cable
The original Windows
CD is also needed should your computer crash and we
would need to re-install Windows. This CD is always
needed when adding a printer or other peripherals.
Even the minimum computer listed above could be a
good workstation and run Bible study software.
Please ship new or
used working computer, monitor, or any peripherals
to:
