We were so blessed to receive this following article, written by 10 year old Geri Ross for a school assignment on female American heroes - it touched our hearts! She had read Erma's book entitled, "A HANDFUL OF HAIR - AN ANSWERED PRAYER" which inspired the following:

Erma Miller - A Female American Hero

Erma Miller is a female American hero because of her faith in God, her obedience to the LORD, and her heart to help others. Erma's faith in Jesus Christ causes a lot of wonderful miracles to happen. Mrs. Miller's autobiography, A Handful of Hair, An Answered Prayer, reveals her obedience to the Holy Spirit in many different ways. Her love for others has changed the world's past, present and future. A female American hero should always have the kind of faith obedience and love that Erma Miller has.

Ever since she accepted Jesus Christ into her heart at the age of ten, Erma's faith in Him has caused "the miraculous" to happen. Mrs. Miller miraculously won a bid by $4.35 difference, and kept her technical publication company working. Her two children survived when a plane crashed into their school playground. Her husband Glen, lived through a heart attack and never had any further problems. After President Kennedy's assassination, Lyndon B. Johnson supported the space program, which kept Erma in business. Also, a gentleman sold them his land in Hot Springs, Arkansas for the Lake Hamilton Bible Camp, when it was not even for sale. Mrs. Erma Miller is, indeed, a woman of great faith and prayer.

Mrs. Glen Miller obeys the LORD, even through the hard times. She obeyed the Holy Ghost by selling her business, although she was "number one" in helping the United States government in space projects. Then, she obeyed God when it was time for her to move to a different state. She had to give up all of her success, family and friends, because the LORD gave Glen a vision to move to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Heroes, like Erma Miller, obey Jesus Christ.

Erma has a helping heart. She helped the first man get to the moon. Glen and Erma educated and employed many people during the space program to the moon. They also traveled around the world and ran a reel-to-reel tape ministry for the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship, before cassette tapes existed. Today, they run a Bible camp that helps people. She has and is helping her family, friends, and country.

The qualities of a female American hero are evident in the life of Erma Miller. Her character is made up of prayer, obedience and kindness. The Bible states that the greatest of these gifts in Mrs. Erma Miller is kindness and love.
