Thoughts From My Notebook That I Ponder????

BLOOD & FAT

After writing the article last issue concerning God’s laws of the blood, because of the revelation that came to one of the ladies here at the campground, I continued to do research on the subject and found there are at least twelve Scriptures in both the New and Old Testaments referring to the eating of blood.

They are as follows: Genesis 9:4-5; Leviticus 3:17; Leviticus 7:26-27; Leviticus 17:10-14; Leviticus 19:26; Deuteronomy 12:16,23-25,28-32; Deuteronomy 15:23;  I Samuel 14:33-34; Ezekiel 33:25; Acts 15:20,29; Acts 21:25.

In reviewing this, I noticed that Leviticus 3:17, the one that was quickened to the lady here on the campground, also states, "That you eat neither FAT nor BLOOD," and in verse 16, it says, "ALL THE FAT IS THE LORDS."

So let us do a little study on this. Let us pick up the last phrase of Leviticus 3:16, "ALL THE FAT IS THE LORDS." Verse 17, "It shall be a perpetual (OR FOREVER) statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings that you EAT NEITHER FAT NOR BLOOD."

Then I found this repeated in Leviticus 7:23-24, "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, You shall eat NO MANNER OF FAT, OF OX, OR OF SHEEP, OR OF GOAT, and the fat of the beast that dieth of itself, and the fat of that which is torn with beasts, may be used in any other use,but you shall in no wise eat of it."

These verses do not mention pork or swine because that is listed in the things that are an abomination to the Lord. See Leviticus 11:7,45-47, and are not to be eaten ever.

Then we find in I Samuel 2:15-17, that Eli’s two sons took the fat before it was burnt. Verse 12 tells us that they were, "Sons of Belial." In verses 23-25, Eli talked to his sons about this, but they would not listen or do what was right and the last of verse 25 says that because they would not listen the Lord was going to slay them.

The Lord was long-suffering and sent a prophet to Eli and in verse 34, Eli is told that both his sons shall die in one day because of their sin.

Today, a lot of us are no better than Eli’s two sons. God’s Word plainly says, that we should not do so and so, and we find Scriptures that we twist and change the intent of their meaning so we can do it anyway.

God told us in His Word hundreds of years ago, NOT TO EAT THE FAT, but we have all rebelled and now the media and scientific field tells us that FAT causes heart trouble, hardening of the arteries, strokes, and many other problems. They tell us that cooking and frying in these fats cause cancer. Why can’t we just repent and obey God’s Word and not be like the rebellious sons of Eli?

Lord, forgive me for not obeying Your Word and believing it. Cleanse me by the Blood of Jesus. Forgive me for my stubbornness and rebellion against You and of the rebellion of my ancestors, that I may have the plagues that this allows to come upon me removed. Cleanse me and restore me Father, through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus, in. Gethsemane, at the whipping post and at Calvary for me. Amen!
